In 5th grade Word Building Pace 1054, students will learn the 50 assigned spelling and vocabulary words and use them properly in a sentence. They will also learn to be kind. Word Building presents spelling from a phonetic approach and includes the rules of phonics, vocabulary definitions, and daily practice activities. This unit is one unit in a series of twelve colorful independent study mastery-based units of instruction and includes direct instruction to the student as well as all necessary quizzes and tests. Throughout the twelve Paces your student will: Identify parts of speech-nouns, verbs, and present and past tenses. Recognize syllable divisions and accents. Evaluate root words, prefixes, and suffixes. Form plurals by changing the endings. Be encouraged in character development through examples given in each PACE.
